Eating better as a family…

My mom, youngest sister and I have vowed off sweets. We all decided that we are going to help each other eat better and we are going to quit buying cookies and other crap. My mom mentioned how she hasn’t been feeling good lately and I feel the same way. I think we both agree that we are just eating too much junk food. We are also going to cut out eating fast food. My youngest sister also wants to join in, Although, she’s in shape already, but she wants to eat better, so that will be good for her also.

So with that, I will be starting my exercising program tomorrow. You may be seeing a lot of posts dealing with my exercise/diet regime, but I will try not to go overboard with it.

In other news the bottom element in our oven broke so now we have to go to Lowe’s or Home Depot and buy another one. They are about 30 bucks so they don’t cost too much. But really, who wants to spend extra money on an oven piece.

  1. Hi, Pauline. Exercise is very important even when someone is thin. At 57 I noticed a big difference in the way I feel when I stop taking daily walks. I agree about not going overboard. Exercise doesn’t need to be strenuous. When I was in my 30s I got hurt trying to keep up with more athletic friends. A brisk walk around the block a few times is good cardiovascular exercise.

Regarding diet, my problem is that I’m lazy and prefer popping a Boston Market frozen dinner in the microwave, especially since it’s very hot here in Florida. If you like to munch, buy some baby carrots, celery or dried fruit like raisins and apricots. Nuts & seeds are also very good for you. I have trouble chewing, so I prefer a fiber supplement like Garden of Life Superseed or DetoxiFiber. I’m also going to begin buying apples again. They taste good sauteed in butter with a little cinnamon.

    Good luck!

    PS: Cute kitty!

  2. Thank you for the comment and the tips Nancy! I like the idea about some baby carrots and other veggies to snack on. I don’t know why I didn’t think about that before. I assumed I should just quit snacking cold turkey which has really been hard because I think snacks help me get through the day. Thank you again your advice, it was very much needed! 🙂
